Note on 4/13:
A reader asked me to note that the Sierra Madre Chamber of Commerce has come out with the results of a member poll. The other day I linked to Bill Coburn’s site, where he covered that story, so readers can check out SierraMadreNews.net for more information. I also called the Chamber to find out if they were planning to put anything on their website. They are not, but Beverly DeVoy, the Chamber’s executive director, said that the Chamber issued a poll asking members whether the Chamber should take a stand for or against on the initiative, or whether the Chamber should take no position. Of the members who voted, 86 percent selected “no” on Measure V.
Note on 4/11: After watching most of the public comments at the City Council meeting on SMTV3 last night (and after shaking my head at all the rude people in the audience), I still believe that it’s best to read information from the city website, the ballot and the legal opinion that was written about the measure. Overall, I heard lots of misstatements and/or misinformation in people’s comments.
Funny that folks on both sides say they want to preserve our small town character.
