Sierra Madre Police Welcome Newest Member
On Monday, April 9, 2007, Lt. Larry Giannone joined the Sierra Madre PD, filling the vacancy created when former Lt. Steve Abernethy retired in January. Lt. Giannone spent his previous career with the Monterey Park Police Department where he worked his way up through the ranks over nearly 28 years. He has worked nearly every assignment, and has achieved impressive credentials. Lt. Giannone brings a wealth of experience and expertise, especially in leadership, technology, and investigations, having supervised a Crime Impact Team, supervised detectives, and worked on a federal crime task force. Lt. Giannone twice received Monterey Park’s Municipal Employee of the Year award in 2006 and 1999. Chief Marilyn Diaz is thrilled with Lt. Giannone’s appointment. Diaz said, “Lt. Larry Giannone brings to the Sierra Madre Police Department a depth and breadth of experience that will help develop Department members to achieve greater goals. I am honored to have him as my second in command.”
Lt. Giannone and his wife, Diane, who is employed at the Monterey Park Police Department, live in the east San Gabriel Valley. He enjoys camping, computers, and off-road ATV riding.
