… so here’s the city’s press release to tell you what was going on (because I’m sure you didn’t walk down there to snoop around, right?)
Sierra Madre, CA. July 24, 2008, 9:00 P.M. -
BARRICADED SUSPECT TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
At 11:50 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2008 the Sierra Madre Police Department attempted to serve a no-bail narcotics warrant on Roberto Funston, 36, who was also wanted for a felony grand theft auto case.
Early on, Funston walked out of the back door of house on Windsor Lane in Sierra Madre, saw an officer, and but then retreated back into the house where he barricaded himself with his two pit bulls.
Pasadena, Monrovia, Glendale and Arcadia police departments along with Los Angeles County Sherriff and Altadena California Highway Patrol responded to the incident.
At approximately 8:00 p.m. tear gas was deployed on the house on Windsor Lane. Funston walked out and surrendered to Sheriff’s deputies on the no-bail warrant. The Sheriffs then turned Funston over to the Sierra Madre Police Department without incident. There were no reported injuries.
Funston will be held at Los Angeles County Jail and will appear in Pasadena Court on Monday, July 28, 2008.
