The Sierra Madre Playhouse has extended the run of Fat Chance, part of the Playhouse’s “Second Stage” series, by another week, according to Ward Calaway, the Playhouse president.

The play, which was written by Linda Felton Steinbaum, “deals with discrimination based on size in a tasteful and sometimes humorous manner,” Calaway wrote in an e-mail.

The play was directed by Tish Smiley and produced by Sharon McGee. The NoHo Actors’ Studio previously produced Fat Chance in July 2005.

The cast includes (in alphabetical order): Jay Bingham, Michelle Carr, Sharon McGee, Marilyn Rising, Rod Simmons and Andrew Thacher.

The remaining performances of Fat Chance are Sunday, May 21 and Sunday, May 28 at 7:30 p.m.

The Playhouse is also currently running The Spitfire Grill, a musical adaptation of the 1995 movie, through June 10. Performances of The Spitfire Grill are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 p.m. All seats are $20.
